Without being personal - naming names and details about the situation - can you think of a time in your life when you were treated unfairly or a malicious act was done to you or even to a friend you know.  How has this study on God's sovereignty over people affected your attitude?  Did your reaction to this situation show a trust in God, if not, how do you feel now about the situation and would you react differently?

  1. This Bible study..Trusting God..Even When Life Hurts..is a FAITH grower! Ch. 4 in the text, God's Sovereignty over People, coincidentally (that's God!) adds to the discussion we had in class last week. How about that?! For me, it is adding to the depth of meaning and my understanding of Romans 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose." I also read a small book (in size but not depth) over the weekend that Lorie loaned me All Things For Good...which expands on the above scripture with much other scripture. I read it with my Bible open and a notepad nearby. It is by Thomas Watson, a 17th century minister. It is so fulfilling to be drawn to learn more and more of God's will and why and to grow in our trust...and we can always add something to what we know and understand now..God's Word is living!

God bless you all my sisters in Christ

  2. I understand God is in control. Yet as I study and come to realize there are no accidents....WOW! In my limited brain I am having a rough time with that one. I look at the things going on around me and in the world and it is hard to think anything is in control. I can believe it will all be worked out in the end. I know that victory is ours through the Lord. I know the Lord didn't promise me any rose garden while I am here. Still it is hard when I see a small child suffer or someone suffering because of an "accident". When I see the things that man does to man. When some one asks "Why did God allow this to happen?" The new believer seems to wonder where he has put his faith. The non believer says "how can you serve a God who would allow this to happen!" You can turn to scripture and pray and ask the Father to give you the right answers for them to understand. Our God is sovereign! Yet it is so hard to get people to see what a wonderful God He is and how much He has given us and what He has promised. How do you get the others to see and understand it is our faith and hope that carries us through. This has been a week of getting others to understand in death and sickness God is in control. Like with my five year old niece, "Auntie please turn off the wind." "Only God can do that!" "God please turn off the wind." "Auntie, why didn't God turn off the wind?" How do we reach them? Get them to understand?

  3. Trusting God in good and bad times. It's easy to when times are good, when I'm feeling good. But when I am really sick, I just want to get better already. But I must remember that He is in control. He knows and is holding me in His Hands. I'm never alone. That...is comforting. Even when we see doctors that don't care He does. Praise God
